We are recruiting Volunteer Supporters for the Kochi Consultation Center for Foreign Residents to provide help for foreign residents who are not accustomed to living in Japan or speaking the Japanese language, so as to create a more multicultural society. We are not only recruiting Japanese people, but also foreign residents of Kochi who are used to living in Japan. We would like to support those who have just arrived from their home country and are having problems with their everyday lives in Japan and the customs of Kochi, as well as those who have difficulties due to not understanding Japanese.<\/p>\n

Main Roles of a Supporter<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

\u2460 Accompaniment to Facility\/Organization
\nAssisting a foreigner at a facility or an organization (government office, shop, etc) by helping with relevant transactions and discussions, so as to allow all parties to come to a mutual understanding. Japanese language ability at a daily conversational level is required.
\n\u2461 Helping with Regional Consultation Events
\nAssisting with the “Regional Consultation Events” held by the Center at various venues within the prefecture, that are geared towards foreign residents. Involvement includes promoting the events beforehand to foreign residents, as well as helping out with operations during the actual event. Japanese language ability at a daily conversational level is required.
\n\u2462\u3000Translator \/ Interpreter
\nTranslating emails sent to the Center and interpreting for external organizations when requested. These will be done both from and into the Supporter\u2019s native language. High Japanese ability is required.
\n*We will not respond to translators of interpreters who approach us for commercial purposes.<\/p>\n

\u30fb For all cases, when there is a need for assistance from a Supporter, a request will be sent out from our center to the Supporter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u30fbAge 20 and over (regardless of nationality)
\n\u30fbPertaining to the \u201cMain Roles of a Supporter\u201d section above, Supporters for roles \u2460 and \u2461 should have a daily conversational level of Japanese language ability and somewhat understand explanations in Japanese. Supporters for role \u2462 should be fluent in both Japanese and the other languages that they are providing support in. (You may choose to register for only roles \u2460 and \u2461. Please only register for \u2462 if you have a high level of language skill)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u30fbSupporters are a part of the volunteers of the Kochi International Association (KIA)<\/a>. To apply for the position, please download the\u3010KIA\u30dc\u30e9\u30f3\u30c6\u30a3\u30a2\u767b\u9332\u7533\u8fbc\u66f8\u3011located below and fill it in with the required relevant information. The form should be submitted to the Kochi International Association (KIA) by email, fax, post, or in person. In addition, various other volunteering roles can be applied for through this application. Those wishing to do so should place a \u2611 in the roles they are interested in and fill in the necessary details.<\/p>\n

\u30fbSupporters are volunteers and thus there will be no monetary reward in general (transportation expenses will be reimbursed).
\n\u30fbOther matters pertaining to volunteer insurance and Supporter activities will be further explained upon application.
\n\u30fbThere are plans to hold workshops once or twice a year for volunteer Supporters.<\/p>\n
